Payments, holding & payouts

How money moves on DoeAsk — and why your funds are safe.

How do payments work on DoeAsk?

When a buyer pays for a deal, a ticket or a gift card through DoeAsk checkout, the money is held by DoeAsk rather than going straight to the business. This protects the buyer and keeps the quality of service high. Right now online payment is not switched on, so you pay the business directly and they confirm it in DoeAsk; DoeAsk does not hold that money and refunds come from the business.

Why does DoeAsk hold the funds?

Holding the funds lets us guarantee a good experience. If something goes wrong, we can refund the buyer within the refund window. It is buyer protection and quality assurance — not a charge on top.

When does the business get paid?

When the buyer redeems, we release your payout within 48 business hours (bank processing times apply — excludes weekends and holidays). If it is never redeemed, we pay you out after the 30-day refund window closes. We only hold the money for that period.

What does "48 business hours" mean?

Roughly two business days, excluding weekends and public holidays. The exact arrival time depends on your bank's processing schedule.

What are the processing fees?

A small processing fee is deducted from your payout. Current rates: Deals & vouchers 20%, Gift cards 10%, Tickets & events 10%, Loyalty 0%. Rates can change; the live rate is always shown here.

How do refunds work?

Within 30 days you can request a refund through in-app support. Because the money is held by DoeAsk, we refund you directly. After the window closes and the business has been paid, refunds are handled by the business.

Is my chat private?

Yes. Person-to-person chat is end-to-end encrypted and server-blind — we can't read it. Only commerce data (deals, tickets, gift cards) is on the authenticated business tier so we can process payments and payouts.

Group Buy

Bring buyers together to unlock a better price. It's crowd-sourcing buyers, not crowdfunding.

What is Group Buy?

Group Buy lets a seller offer a better price when enough people buy together. The seller chooses how it works — by headcount, by a timer, by filling a unit, or by referrals.

What are the Group Buy types?

Fill the unit — e.g. a raft of 6 seats that only goes once a minimum join; everyone pays one discounted seat price. Tiered by headcount — the more people buy, the cheaper it gets for everyone. Timer discount — a limited-time price. Referral — refer friends who buy and yours is comped free.

What happens if the minimum isn't reached?

For fill-the-unit offers your money is held safely until the group is confirmed. If the minimum isn't met in time, you are refunded in full.

Can I share to get a better price?

Yes. Share your link — tiered offers get cheaper for everyone as more people buy, and on referral offers enough successful referrals make yours free.

Deals & vouchers

Group-buy deals, redeemed by QR or NFC tap.

How do I claim a deal?

Open the deal, tap Claim, and pay securely. You get a QR voucher in your wallet.

How do I redeem it?

Show your voucher QR at the business so they can scan it. On Android you can also tap your phone (NFC) to redeem. Each voucher redeems once.

When does the business get paid?

When the buyer redeems, we release your payout within 48 business hours (bank processing times apply — excludes weekends and holidays). If it is never redeemed, we pay you out after the 30-day refund window closes. We only hold the money for that period. A 20% processing fee is deducted from the payout.

Can I get a refund?

Yes — if your voucher is unredeemed, you can request a refund within 30 days; it comes from the money held by DoeAsk.

Tickets & events

Buy tickets, get a scannable QR, check in at the door.

How do I buy tickets?

Open the event, pick your ticket type and quantity, and reserve. Free tickets are issued instantly; for paid tickets the money is held by DoeAsk until the event.

What is my ticket?

A scannable QR code in your wallet. The organiser scans it at the door to check you in — each ticket admits exactly once.

Do events use group pricing?

They can. Some events use Group Buy (tiered, timer, fill-the-unit or referral). The live price is shown on the ticket.

When does the organiser get paid?

When the buyer redeems, we release your payout within 48 business hours (bank processing times apply — excludes weekends and holidays). If it is never redeemed, we pay you out after the 30-day refund window closes. We only hold the money for that period. A 10% processing fee is deducted from the payout.

What about refunds?

Refunds follow the organiser\'s refund policy, shown on the event page. Within the 30-day window we can refund from the money held by DoeAsk.

Gift cards

Digital gift cards from local businesses — buy, send, redeem by QR.

How do gift cards work?

Buy a digital gift card from a business and send it to anyone on DoeAsk. They redeem it by QR at the business; the balance draws down as they spend.

Is it safe? Can a screenshot be cashed?

Treat a gift card code like cash: only the shop that issued it can take it, but anyone who has your code or QR could spend it there. Every spend is checked live against the balance and written to the card's history, so you can see who spent what and when. DoeAsk Credits QR codes change every minute, so a screenshot of one stops working.

How do I see the balance?

Your wallet shows the original amount (struck through) and the current balance remaining, on a card that carries "Powered by DoeAsk".

When does the business get paid?

As the card is spent, that portion is released to the business within 48 business hours, net of a 10% processing fee. We hold the unspent balance safely so it can always be refunded within 30 days.

Do I need a shop to sell gift cards?

No. Any business — or any individual — can create a gift card. It can be listed in the Gift Card Mall without setting up a full shop.

Loyalty cards

Earn a stamp each visit toward a reward — all in your wallet.

How does loyalty work?

Get a digital loyalty card from a business; each visit earns a stamp toward a reward. Your wallet shows your progress — for example, 6 of 10 stamps recorded.

Is a loyalty card the same as a gift card?

A single card can be both — a gift card can also act as a loyalty card. Stamps are recorded securely on your card.

Is there a fee?

Loyalty is free by default (0%). A business may set its own reward terms.

What does "Powered by DoeAsk" mean?

Your loyalty and gift cards carry "Powered by DoeAsk" — it means the card is verified and backed by DoeAsk's secure, server-checked QR system.
