Terms of Service
The agreement for using DoeAsk. Please read it.
These Terms govern your use of doeask.com, the DoeAsk app and the tools in it (together, the "Service"), provided by DoeAsk ("we", "us"). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these Terms and to our Refund Policy and Privacy note. If you use the Service for a business, you agree on its behalf.
The Service
DoeAsk is a private, end-to-end encrypted messenger with business tools built in: shops and listings, a point of sale, bookings, a public directory and marketplace, gift cards and vouchers, and AI help. Features change over time; we may add, change or remove them. The Service is in a private beta, and access is by invitation.
Accounts
You choose a username and a passphrase. You must give accurate details when we ask for them, keep your credentials safe, and are responsible for what happens under your account. You must be 16 or older, and old enough under the law where you live to be bound by these Terms. Because messages are encrypted on your device, we cannot read them and cannot recover them or your passphrase if you lose them.
Acceptable use
- Follow the law where you and the people you deal with are.
- Do not use the Service for fraud, scams, harassment, threats, hate, sexual content involving minors, illegal goods or services, or anything that infringes someone else's rights.
- Do not send spam or bulk unsolicited messages, or use invite codes you were not given.
- Do not break, overload, scrape or reverse-engineer the Service, or try to get around its security.
We cannot see private messages, but we can act on public content (shops, listings, profiles) and on reports, and we may suspend or remove accounts and content that break these rules.
Your content
You keep ownership of what you post and send. You give us the limited rights we need to store, process and show it as the Service requires, for example to display your public shop or listing. You are responsible for your content and for having the right to share it.
Shops, listings and the marketplace
If you sell through DoeAsk, you are the seller. You are responsible for your products and services, the accuracy of what you say about them, delivering what you sold, your own licences, and your own taxes. DoeAsk provides tools and, where payment is taken through DoeAsk, the payment step; we are not the seller of your goods and we are not a party to the sale between you and your customer.
Fees and payments
- The tools are free to start. There is no monthly fee and no setup fee. We charge a fee on a sale when money changes hands through DoeAsk. The fee for each kind of sale is shown on the pricing page and before you confirm.
- Payments through DoeAsk are held, then released. When a buyer pays through DoeAsk checkout, DoeAsk holds the money until the order is earned (for example the item is delivered, the voucher is redeemed, or the event has happened), then pays it out to the business on a regular cycle, minus the fee. The page where you pay says when the money is released.
- Payments made directly are not ours. If you pay a business directly (cash, a bank QR or a payment link), DoeAsk does not hold or handle that money, and any dispute is between you and the business.
- Card payments are processed by our reseller Paddle.com, which is the Merchant of Record for those orders: it takes the payment, collects the sales tax, VAT or GST that applies, and issues the receipt. By paying you also agree to Paddle's checkout buyer terms. KHQR and similar local payments are processed by the bank or provider shown at checkout. We never see or store your full card number.
- Refunds are covered in the Refund Policy.
- Businesses are responsible for the taxes on their own sales and receive payouts net of our fee.
Third-party services
The Service connects to services you choose, such as payment providers, maps and AI providers. Your use of them is also subject to their terms. We are not responsible for third-party services, and access may change if a provider changes its terms.
Our intellectual property
The Service itself, including its software, design and brand, belongs to us. These Terms give you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use it while your account is in good standing.
Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and in beta. To the extent the law allows, we do not promise it will always be available or error-free, and we do not guarantee any sales, customers or income. We do not provide legal, tax or financial advice.
Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, or for lost profits, data or goodwill. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the fees you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or US$100 if you paid none.
Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or end access if you break these Terms or use the Service in a way that risks harm. Money we are holding for a completed sale is still paid out, and money held for a sale that cannot be completed is refunded, as the Refund Policy describes.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Singapore, and the courts of Singapore have exclusive jurisdiction, unless mandatory local law where you are says otherwise.
Changes
We may update these Terms as the Service grows. We will post the new version here with a fresh date, and tell you in the app if a change is material. Continuing to use the Service after that means you accept it.
